Flight connections: Daily flights from Helsinki to Rovaniemi are provided by Finnair and Norwegian throughout the year. In 2019, Rovaniemi Airport welcomed over 326,000 visitors.  On top of this, the number of people departing Rovaniemi Airport was 335,000, which means that altogether over 660,000 travelled vis the airport.

Rail connections: There are a number of daily services to Rovaniemi from the more southern regions of Finland, and from the town of Kemijärvi in the north. More information available from the VR online service.

Bus connections: Rovaniemi can be reached by bus from anywhere in Finland.

Travel connections to neighbouring countries

 

Norway: During the summer months, there are daily bus services from Rovaniemi to Troms, Vadsø and the North Cape. During the winter months, you can travel from Rovaniemi to Karasjok and Tana Bru, from which transfer connections depart using Norwegian bus companies.

Sweden: There are year-round rail and bus services from Rovaniemi via Kemi and Tornio to Haparanda. To venture further into Sweden, Swedish transportation should be used.

Arctic Route winter 2019–2020

New bus and rail routes in North Finland, Sweden and Norway. These services operate between 1 December 2019 and 31 March 2020 between Rovaniemi, Troms, Narvik, Lyngen, Alta, Luleå and Kiruna.
